Carbon Monoxide Awareness Week 21st – 27th November 2022

We have blogged on a number of occasions about the dangers of carbon monoxide associated with solid fuel fires and the safety measures that should be taken. All fires, whether burning wood, smokeless coal or gas, emit carbon monoxide. Sweeping the chimney or flue ensures that they are clear from obstruction and that dangerous gases such as carbon monoxide are discharged safely from the property.

Carbon Monoxide Awareness Week aims to get people talking about the dangers of carbon monoxide, the signs of carbon monoxide poisoning, and steps that can be taken to keep people safe.

Wilkins chimney Sweep supports the campaign as our daily work impacts directly on these aims.

HETAS (the UK’s official body recognised by the government to authorise solid fuel domestic heating appliances, biomass, fuels and services) have produced a series of carbon monoxide videos, which cover alarm positioning, signs and symptoms and measures to preventing CO exposure. You can take a look at these videos at the HETAS YouTube channel. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYTTVhIR6JEcQiQ00bzKonM8oVCBeyOqV

Our local Wilkins chimney sweeps are available all year if you would like to discuss any of these issues or to arrange a visit to your home.
